The 2012 election between the
United States current president, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney has been a year
to remember. Asking students on campus if they are voting and where they are
going to go to vote. Dustin Deisher, a senior and active student who
participates on the Avila soccer team said he is voting. This is going to be
his second election and he finds the campaigns very interesting. “Everyone
should vote if you are of age, your vote matters,” said Deisher. He believes
that people should care who is going to be the next president and that they
should be educated on both sides on what each person believes in. Deisher also
thought that the voting places are not advertised enough. Students especially,
do not know where they need to go and vote. Diesher thought that Avila University
should help advertise and put up flyers to where students can go and elect the
next president. Diesher said, “The times and areas around town would be great
to know.” Suggesting that Avila University should be responsible in advertising
where election polls are going to be, students need to research and really
understand each side of the campaign. Making sure that before voting, they
clearly understand whom they are supporting.
